Mackenzie Colvin · Certified Digital Navigator & Peer Specialist
One navigator. Two kinds of help.
I'm Mackenzie Colvin — founder of Pivot Point Consulting, a Certified Digital Navigator and peer specialist with 15+ years of lived experience across Berkshire County's recovery and justice systems. I help people use the technology modern life now demands — and walk beside them through recovery and reentry, inside the programs that already serve them.
The Pivot Point approach
We don’t teach code.
We teach judgment.
- 01Get connectedDevices, email and the everyday tools that open doors.
- 02Practice a real taskPortals, applications and the next thing you need to do.
- 03Build confidenceSafer choices, better questions and skills to keep using.
Technology education, with the person at the center.
My Story
I do two things, and they come from the same place. Most people don't fall through the cracks because they aren't capable — they fall through because no one ever showed them how the system works, and the systems keep moving online, faster than the people expected to use them.
That's why I became a Certified Digital Navigator (Mass Broadband Institute / Tech Goes Home, 2025): to make new and emerging technology knowable for the people who would never otherwise have access to it, or a reason to feel at home with it. Older adults. Job seekers filtered out by hiring algorithms they didn't know existed. Families targeted by AI-powered scams. Frontline staff handed a new tool with no training and no guardrails. I teach digital skills plainly, patiently, and with respect for the person in the chair. We don't teach code. We teach judgment — empowerment, not fear.
"Nobody should be labeled at 12, 18, 25, 35 or any time in their lives. We are taking back control of the psychological barriers and legitimate walls we have been programmed to accept."
I also know what it costs to navigate a hard system without a guide — because I've done it. For over 15 years I moved through Berkshire County's intertwined systems: courts, treatment, education, workforce programs, and reentry. That lived experience isn't a backstory; it's my primary credential. So alongside the digital work, I provide peer recovery and reentry navigation — delivered inside your programs, under your supervision and protocols — with my Certified Peer Specialist credential in progress through Kiva Centers.
The name is the whole philosophy. A pivot point is where a turning point becomes a breakthrough — the moment things could go either way becomes the moment they change for good. I've lived that turn. My vision is to bring Pivot Point to the forefront of digital equity — with deep respect for the histories of exclusion that created these gaps in the first place — starting in Berkshire County and growing across the region: building digital bridges, and raising the baseline of access so everyone can use these tools safely, to create, to invent, and to lift our communities.

Why Cultural Connection Matters
"Engagement is rooted in trust, and trust is rooted in shared reality."
Whether I'm helping someone log into a patient portal for the first time or sitting beside them in a courthouse waiting room, people engage because they know I understand the stakes — and because I've sat on the other side of the desk. That cultural alignment is the missing key, in digital equity and in recovery alike: it's what turns a service into trust, and trust is what keeps people from slipping through the gap.
